RALEIGH — On Monday, June 2, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of N.C. 33 in order for crews to replace the bridge over Johnson Mill Run near Greenville. The bridge is scheduled to reopen Oct. 29, weather permitting.
The bridge, which was constructed in 1956, is classified as structurally deficient. This means the bridge is safe, but it needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.
Motorists should use Old River Road and Barrus Construction Road during the closure.
