NCDOT to Replace Bridge on Creekview Road in McLeansville Friday, May 09, 2014

RALEIGH — Weather permitting, work will begin next week on an N.C. Department of Transportation project to replace the Creekview Road bridge over North Buffaloe Creek in Guilford County.

The $813,000.00 bridge replacement contract was awarded in April to Smith-Rowe, LLC of Mount Airy. The new bridge is expected to be complete by Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014. Once the new bridge is open, the contractor may continue landscaping and vegetation work for an additional 180 days.

On Monday, May 13, Creekview Road will be closed between Dick’s Mill Road and Anderson Valley Road, and will remain closed during construction of the new bridge. During the closure, motorists will use the following signed detour route

  • Hines Chapel Road to Rankin Mill Road to Camp Burton Road to Huffine Mill Road to Dick’s Mill Road back to Creekview Road.
NCDOT encourages motorists to pay attention, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.

This project is part of the department’s overall bridge program to improve the condition of the state’s bridges. Built in 1961, the existing bridge is reaching the end of its life cycle and needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.  The new bridge will accommodate all traffic, including trucks and emergency vehicles, as it will not be subject to the load restrictions of the current bridge.
