Bridge Replacement Project Begins May 12 on N.C. 903 in Sampson County Wednesday, May 07, 2014

RALEIGH — On Monday, May 12, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of N.C. 903 to replace the bridge over Six Runs Creek, just east of Garland. The bridge is scheduled to reopen Nov. 7, weather permitting.

The bridge, which was constructed in 1950, is classified as structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. This means the bridge is safe, but needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.

Motorists should follow the posted detour of Lundy Road and N.C. 411 during the closure.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Updated travel information is also available by calling 511 or online at www.ncdot.gov/travel. In addition, NCDOT now offers travel information on Twitter.
