Bridge in Martin County to Close in April for Rehabilitation Project Friday, March 28, 2014

RALEIGH — Starting Tuesday, April 1, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close the 43-year-old bridge on Yarrell Creek Road over Hardison Mill Creek southeast of Williamston for a rehabilitation project. The bridge is scheduled to reopen to traffic by May 15, weather permitting.

As part of this project, crews will replace the top portion of the existing bridge deck with a new layer of latex-modified concrete. Rehabilitation projects like this help to extend the life of bridges around the state.

The bridge site on Yarrell Creek Road will be closed during construction. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during the closure.

Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
