NCDOT Awards $2.1 Million Contract For Resurfacing Work In Stanly County Thursday, March 06, 2014

CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $2.1 million contract to J.T. Russell and Sons, Inc.of Albemarle to mill, resurface and reconstruct shoulders on more than 11 miles of primary and secondary roads in Stanly County.


Major roads in the contract include:

·         1.5 miles of N.C. 24/27 from U.S. 52 to St. Martin Road; and

·         1.9 miles of N.C. 138 from N.C. 742 to Hills Ford Road.


Work can begin July 1, with completion scheduled by June 30, 2015.


This is one of the 17 road and bridge contracts worth $32.2 million recently awarded by NCDOT for projects across North Carolina. The contracts were awarded to the lowest bidders, as required by state law. The low bids received on the projects were 8.5 percent, or almost $3 million below NCDOT estimates.
