RALEIGH —N.C. Department of Transportation crews continue to make progress on a project to preserve the bridge deck and extend the lifespan of the Heide Trask Drawbridge over the Intracoastal Waterway in Wrightsville Beach.
On Sunday, Feb. 23 at 11:30 p.m., the bridge will be closed to all traffic until 5 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, weather permitting. The nightly closures will continue through 5 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27.
In addition, the bridge will be closed nightly from 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m. beginning Sunday, March 2 through Thursday, March 5.
Police Officers will be stationed at each end of the bridge to assist with emergency vehicle access.
During the closures, crews will be replacing the center span locks and cleaning and painting the steel.
NCDOT urges motorists to use caution when traveling in the work zone.
