CURRITUCK – The North Carolina Ferry System has added an extra evening run to its Knotts Island-Currituck schedule for Tuesday, February 4 in order to allow an easier trip home for mainland residents attending the Knotts Island Ferry Toll Hearing.
The hearing is scheduled to take place from 7-9 p.m. at Knotts Island Elementary School. The extra departure will leave the Knotts Island Terminal at 9:30pm, arriving at Currituck at approximately 10:15. The ferry is able to carry as many as 24 single-length vehicles.
“The public hearings were designed to give residents a voice in the process,” said Harold Thomas, Ferry Division Director. “This extra run will enable people from the mainland to attend the meeting without making the lengthy trip through Virginia to get home.”
The Knotts Island hearing is the first of seven toll hearings to be held between February 4-13. A full schedule of hearings can be found here.
