NCDOT will Intermittently Close Lanes on Independence Boulevard in Charlotte Tonight Wednesday, December 18, 2013

Closures are part of Independence Boulevard widening project

CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation tonight will intermittently close the right lanes in both directions of Independence Boulevard near Conference Drive from 8 p.m. to midnight, weather permitting. The closures are part of the $51 million widening project to convert Independence Boulevard to an expressway between Sharon Amity Road and Wallace Lane.

Crews have finished hanging girders for the future bridge carrying Conference Drive over Independence Boulevard, and tonight will tighten girder bolts and install fall protection to protect workers. No detour will be necessary for tonight’s work.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
