CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation tomorrow night will continue work on the 6.8-mile I-85 widening project to expand the interstate from four to eight lanes from south of Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to north of N.C. 73 (Exit 55) in Concord. Crews will be setting bridge girders near Exit 55, requiring temporary closures on I-85 in both directions.
At 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, crews will close the right lane on I-85 North and South near N.C. 73. The interstate will close in both directions at midnight, taking traffic up and over the ramps at N.C. 73 until 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20. Weather permitting, the closures will resume from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21.
