Crews will move barrier walls to prepare for traffic shift

CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the left lanes on Independence Boulevard between Albemarle Road and Farmingdale Drive beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, weather permitting. The work is part of the department’s 1.3 mile widening project to improve mobility and safety on U.S. 74.

Crews will move barrier walls in the median to prepare for an upcoming shift that will move traffic on Sharon Amity Road to a temporary alignment. All lanes will open by 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
