CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the exit ramp from Bruton Smith Boulevard to I-85 South in Concord from 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, until 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, as the department continues work on the 6.8-mile expansion of I-85 from south of Exit 49 to north of Exit 55.
During the closure, crews will tie in the new entrance ramp from the existing ramp, providing smoother access to I-85 South. Motorists traveling on Bruton Smith Boulevard will be detoured to I-85 North to Poplar Tent Road (Exit 52). At the top of the ramp, motorists can turn left, go over the bridge and turn left to access I-85 South.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
