Lane closures scheduled on I-77 in Mecklenburg County this week Monday, September 09, 2013

Contract to refurbish roadway lighting will require nightly closures

 

CHARLOTTE – Motorists traveling on I-77 in Charlotte this week should prepare for lane closures starting tonight at 9 p.m., weather permitting, as crews perform maintenance and repairs to roadway lighting structures through the corridor.

 

The $143,000 contract includes refurbishing lighting heads on single and twin arm poles along I-77 from north of Arrowood Road (Exit 3) to south of the John Belk Freeway, (Exit 9), and along I-85 from south of Sam Wilson Road (Exit 28) to north of Little Rock Road (Exit 32). A total of 188 heads will be replaced along I-77, and 85 heads will be replaced along I-85.

 

The contractor will work from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday, Sept. 13, closing the left lanes in the following areas:

 

            Monday, Sept. 9:

·         I-77 North and South between Arrowood Road and Woodlawn Road (Exit 6);

Tuesday, Sept. 10:

·         I-77 North and South between Tyvola Road (Exit 5) and Remount Road (Exit 8);

Wednesday, Sept. 11:

·         I-77 North and South between Billy Graham Parkway/Woodlawn Road to the John Belk Freeway; and

Thursday, Sept. 12:

·         I-77 North and South between Remount Road and I-277. Crews will also temporarily close the entrance ramp from West Boulevard to I-77 North, and the entrance ramp from Wilkinson Boulevard to I-77 South for two hours.
