Intermittent Lane Closures on the Martin Luther King Bridge in New Hanover County Begin Sept. 9

RALEIGH — Maintenance work is scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 9 on the east and westbound bridges of U.S. 74, which travels over Smith Creek and Twenty Third Street in Wilmington.

The right and left lanes will be closed intermittently between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Sept. 20, as NC Department of Transportation Crews preform maintenance to the drainage system.

This project is part of the department’s overall bridge program to improve the condition of the state’s bridges. Investments in our transportation infrastructure provide better access and support economic growth across the state.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Updated travel information is also available by calling 511 or online at www.ncdot.gov/travel. In addition, NCDOT now offers travel information on Twitter.
