Bridge Replacement Project Closing Section of Upper Road In Northwestern Moore County Monday, August 19, 2013

RALEIGH — Work is scheduled to start Tuesday, Aug. 20, on the replacement of a bridge on Upper Road over the west branch of Bear Creek south of Seagrove. That will close a section of the road between Mt. Zion Church and Hancock roads until Nov. 18.

A $459,000 contract was awarded TCB Builders LLC of Lexington to replace the 59-year-old bridge. It is considered structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. It remains safe to use, but is in deteriorating condition and needs to be replaced. It was also built to design standards no longer in use.

A five-mile signed detour will be in place, using Cagle, Gap and Steed Roads.

Additional information on this project is available by contacting NCDOT Senior Resident Engineer John Partin at (336) 318-4020.
