Replacement of Bridge on N.C. 99 begins Monday in Beaufort County Friday, July 26, 2013

RALEIGH — Beginning Monday, July 29 at 8 a.m., N.C. Department of Transportation crews will close a section of N.C. 99 from Burbage Cross Road to Peoples Road in Bath to replace the bridge over St. Clair Creek.

The bridge, which was built in 1958, is considered structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. It is being replaced in order to upgrade the structure and will be closed until October 11, weather permitting.

Motorists should follow a signed detour using Burbage Cross Road and Peoples Road to avoid the closure.
