Bridge Work to Close Part of Hastings Hill Road in Kernersville Thursday, July 25, 2013

RALEIGH — Weather permitting, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close Hastings Hill Road between West Mountain Street and the existing bridge over U.S. 421/Business 40 in Forsyth County, beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 29, through 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.

During the closure, motorists may use West Mountain Street, Linville Road, Kernersville Road, and Sedge Garden Road to travel around the work zone. A map of the area can be seen here.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to begin constructing a portion of the southern tie-in between the existing and future roadways as part of the $4.6 million project to replace the Hastings Hill Road bridge over U.S. 421/Business 40.  The new bridge is expected to be completed by Jan. 11, 2015.

The new bridge and part of Hastings Hill Road will be built in a new alignment, which will eliminate the sharp curve on Hastings Hill Road near East Forsyth High School. Replacing the bridge will not only improve safety, but it will also allow the 5,560 motorists that travel on it each day to reach their destinations more efficiently.
