Meeting for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) subcontractors to network with NCDOT staff, prime contractors
CHARLOTTE — The N.C. Department of Transportation is hosting an outreach meeting for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise subcontractors interested in a project to widen I-85 from N.C. 73 (Exit 55) to Lane Street (Exit 63) in Cabarrus County.
The design-build project proposes to widen I-85 from four to eight lanes, with modifications at the interchanges of U.S. 29/601 (Exit 58), Dale Earnhardt Boulevard (Exit 60), and Lane Street (Exit 63). The additional capacity is needed to deliver a higher level of service on I-85, providing relief from present and future congestion in the corridor.
The outreach meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, at the Metrolina Regional Traffic Management Center, 2327 Tipton Drive in Charlotte.
As part of NCDOT’s commitment to the economic development of disadvantaged business enterprises, a 16% DBE Goal has been established. DBE subcontractors will have the opportunity to network with NCDOT personnel and short-listed prime contractors selected to bid on the project.
