CHARLOTTE - The N.C. Department of Transportation will start a project to replace the bridge on Old Monroe-Marshville Road over Ray’s Fork Creek south of Wingate on Monday, July 8, weather permitting.
Contractor Smith-Rowe LLC of Mount Airy was awarded the $341,000 project to replace the existing bridge, install guardrail, and improve the approaches to the bridge from Old Monroe-Marshville Road. Motorists should be able to drive on the new bridge by November 1, while reforestation and vegetation efforts will continue through April 29, 2014.
During the project, motorists will be detoured from Old Monroe-Marsvhille Road to Snyders Store Road to Rock Rest Road to Nash Road to Witmore Road back to Old Monroe-Marshville Road.
