NCDOT to Replace Bridge on Lemons Road in Rockingham County Friday, June 14, 2013

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will close Lemons Road in Rockingham County to replace the bridge over Hogan’s Creek, beginning Monday, June 17, weather permitting. The new bridge is expected to be complete by Friday, Oct. 18.

Motorists should use the following signed detour route during the closure:
  • Lemons Road to Lauren Road to N.C. 68 to Lemons Loop back to Lemons Road.
This project is part of NCDOT’s $450 million state-funded bridge plan for 2011-13, which calls for preservation, repairs or replacement of bridges statewide.  The existing bridge was built in 1953 and is considered structurally deficient. This means the bridge is safe, but it needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
