NCDOT to Close Lanes on U.S. 52 South in Winston-Salem Starting Monday for Bridge Repairs Sunday, May 19, 2013

Motorists may encounter traffic congestion

RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close the right lane and the collector lane of U.S. 52 South between Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and U.S. 421 North/Business 40 West in Winston-Salem, starting Monday night. The closures are necessary to allow crews to repair the Third Street Bridge over U.S. 52.

Weather permitting, the closures will remain in effect on weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning through June 1. The U.S. 52 South entrance ramp from Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and exit ramp to U.S. 421 North/Business 40 West will remain open while repair work is under way.

NCDOT urges motorists traveling through the work zone to go slow, pay attention to construction-related signs and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
