Co-Ed camp June 23-28, all-girls camp July 14-19

RALEIGH – There is still time for students in the Elizabeth City area to learn about aviation at Aviation Career Education camps, sponsored by the N.C. Department of Transportation Division of Aviation and the North Carolina Airports Association.

As many as 30 rising high school students can attend the co-ed ACE camp on the campus of Elizabeth City State University June 23-28. There also will be a camp for girls July 14-19. Students at both camps will stay overnight on campus. The cost for each camp is $150 per student. The application deadline for the co-ed camp is May 10 in order to receive a camp T-shirt. Registrations for the all-girls camp will be accepted until June 6.

Students will learn about the theory of flight, aviation history, aircraft maintenance and new technologies. Attendees will study real-world aviation applications, aviation principles such as thrust and vectoring, and aircraft construction. They also will have the opportunity to fly radio-controlled aircraft and work on aircraft model design projects, as well as take field trips to aviation industry businesses.
