CHARLOTTE – Several Norfolk Southern Railroad crossings in Charlotte in Harrisburg will close intermittently beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, April 22, weather permitting. A subcontractor for the railroad will be replacing crossties at five crossings. The repairs are expected continue through Thursday, April 25.
Each crossing will be closed for several hours, and will require detours for motorists. Depending on how long repairs may take, crews could work on one or more crossings in one day.
Orr Road Detour: Old Concord Road to Harris Boulevard to Grier Road back to Orr Road;
Newell-Hickory Grove Road Detour: Old Concord Road to Harris Boulevard to Grier Road back to Newell-Hickory Grove Road;
Back Creek Church Road Detour: N.C. 49 (University City Boulevard) to Old Concord Road to Harris Boulevard to Rocky River Road to John Russell Road back to Back Creek Church Road.
Robinson Church Road Detour: N.C. 49 to Caldwell Road to Tom Query Road back to Robinson Church Road; and
Hickory Ridge Road Detour: School Circle to Robinson Church Road to N.C. 49 to Caldwell Road to Tom Query Road to Robinson Church Road to Stallings Road back to Hickory Ridge Road.
