NCDOT to Close Haynes Road in Rockingham County for Bridge Replacement Thursday, April 11, 2013

RALEIGH—The N.C. Department of Transportation will close Haynes Road near U.S. 158 in Rockingham County to replace the bridge over Troublesome Creek. Work will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 15, and is expected to be complete by Friday, Aug. 2, weather permitting.

Motorists should use the following signed detour route during the closure:
  • Haynes Road to U.S. 158 to Hudson Road to N.C. 65 back to Haynes Road.
The work is part of a $992,885 contract awarded in February to replace two bridges over Troublesome Creek in Rockingham County.  The bridge on Price Mill Road will be replaced once the new Haynes Road bridge is complete.

Both bridges were built in the mid-1950s and are considered functionally obsolete. This means the bridges are safe, but need to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.

NCDOT reminds motorists to stay alert, watch signs for construction information and obey the posted speed limit.
