Bridge Work Temporarily Closes Fowler Road Bridge Near Zebulon Until Late April Wednesday, April 10, 2013

RALEIGH — Repair work on the Fowler Road Bridge over Moccasin Creek north of Zebulon in Wake County will temporarily close the bridge until late this month. The 56-year-old timber bridge is having some of the older timbers on the structure replaced. The bridge is listed as structurally deficient, which means it is safe, but it is requiring more extensive maintenance. It is scheduled to be replaced in a few years.

The closure means a signed detour is in place. Drivers on Fowler Road are being directed to use Dukes Lake Lane, Country Club Road, Furney Pearce Road and Henry Baker Road to get around the closure.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Updated travel information is also available by calling 511 or online at www.ncdot.gov/travel. In addition, NCDOT now offers travel information on Twitter.
