RALEIGH — Bridge maintenance on three U.S. 74/76 bridges will require detours next Tuesday and Thursday between Old Lake Road near Lake Waccamaw and N.C. 211 near Bolton in Columbus County.

Weather permitting, N.C. Department of Transportation crews will replace steel cables on eastbound lane bridges between 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, and on westbound lane bridges between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.

On Tuesday, during the eastbound lane closure, motorists should follow the signed detour from Old Lake Road south to N.C. 214 East to U.S. 74/76 East.

During the westbound lane closure on Thursday, motorists should take N.C. 211 North, then travel south on Old Lake Road to return to U.S. 74/76.
