NCDMV Expands Hours at Second Round of Offices Friday, April 5, 2013

RALEIGH – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will launch expanded hours at three additional driver license offices starting Saturday, April 6. The new hours are part of an effort to improve customer service and reduce wait times for North Carolina drivers.

The second round of expanded hours brings to six the number of DMV offices offering the new schedule statewide. Expanded schedules will begin Saturday at the South Fayetteville, South Durham and North Charlotte DMV offices.

NCDMV first began expanded hours on March 2 at offices located in Greenville, Raleigh and Charlotte. As a result of Saturday hours at these offices, DMV completed 749 issuances during March.
“As we continue to enhance customer service, we are excited to offer our expanded hours to reach even more North Carolinians,” said DMV Commissioner James L. Forte. “We know this is an important part of making it easier for drivers to access our services and we’ve had great success in our initial locations.”

The South Fayetteville office is at 2439 Gillespie St., and can be reached at (910) 486-1353. The South Durham office is at 3825 S. Roxboro St., Suite 119, phone (919) 560-3378. The North Charlotte office is 8446 N. Tryon St., phone (704) 547-5786.

These offices will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to Noon. Most regular driver license services, including regular road tests, will be offered during this time, with the exception of CDL skills tests, medical re-exams and motorcycle skills tests.

Beginning Monday, April 8, the offices will also be open for an additional hour on Monday to Friday afternoons, from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. Testing services will be available until 5:30 p.m., but regular road tests will not be administered during rush hour.

Over the coming months, DMV will announce the participation of additional offices offering expanded hours.
