Launch of Saturday and longer weekday hours begins April 6
RALEIGH – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will launch expanded hours at its South Durham DMV office this Saturday, April 6. The new hours are part of an effort to improve customer service and reduce wait times for North Carolina drivers.
NCDMV first began expanded hours on March 2 at offices located in Greenville, Raleigh and Charlotte. As a result of Saturday hours at these offices, DMV completed 749 issuances during March. The second round of openings brings to six the number of expanded-hour DMV offices statewide.
“As we continue to enhance customer service, we are excited to offer our expanded hours to reach even more North Carolinians,” said DMV Commissioner James L. Forte. “We know this is an important part of making it easier for drivers to access our services and we’ve had great success in our initial locations.”
The South Durham office is located at 3825 S. Roxboro St., Suite 119, and can be reached at (919) 560-3378.
It will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to Noon. Most regular driver license services, including regular road tests, will be offered during this time, with the exception of CDL skills tests, medical re-exams and motorcycle skills tests.
Beginning Monday, April 8, the office will also be open for an additional hour on Monday to Friday afternoons, from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. Testing services will be available until 5:30 p.m., but regular road tests will not be administered during rush hour.
Additional expanded schedules will also begin this week at the South Fayetteville and North Charlotte offices. Over the coming months, DMV will announce the participation of additional offices offering expanded hours.
