RALEIGH – All lanes on the U.S. 74/76 bridge in Wrightsville Beach are now open to traffic. Previously, the bridge was reduced to one lane in each direction.
Beginning Tuesday, April 2, motorists can begin to expect periodic lane closures throughout the length of the bridge rehabilitation project. The lane closures will take place Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 7 a.m.
In October, lanes will be reduced to one lane in each direction so work on the northbound side of the bridge can begin. Also, motorists and residents can anticipate additional overnight closures before the project is complete in spring 2014. Once these closures are scheduled, information will be provided to the Town of Wrightsville Beach and the media as well as placed on changeable message boards near the project and on the project website.
The closures are necessary as crews continue to rehabilitate the bridge and the control house.
