Section of Steele Street in Rockingham Closing April 1 for Bridge Replacement Project Wednesday, March 27, 2013

RALEIGH — A section of Steele Street in Rockingham, Richmond County, will be closed for six months, starting Monday, April 1, for an N.C. Department of Transportation bridge replacement project. The 52-year-old bridge over Hitchcock Creek is being replaced, closing Steele Street between north of North Randolph Street and Aslington Street. The project is expected to wrap up by Oct. 1.

A signed detour will be in place, with motorists using Aslington Street, U.S. 220, West and East Green Street and Fayetteville Road/U.S. 1.
