Traffic flagged through area during State Highway Patrol investigation

RALEIGH – The southbound lane of U.S. 321 near Richland Road south of Blowing Rock is closed as the State Highway Patrol continues to investigate a crash that occurred around 11 a.m. At this time, officials estimate that the lane is expected to remain closed through late afternoon while authorities investigate the crash.

A flagman is on site routing all southbound traffic to the northbound lane.

Motorists traveling south from the Boone area should take U.S. 421 to N.C. 18 in Wilkesboro to Lenoir back onto U.S. 321. Vehicles also can take U.S. 421 to Interstate 77 South toward I-40/Charlotte. Northbound traffic on U.S. 321 heading from Hickory toward Boone can reverse these directions.
