One Lane of I-26 East to Close for Two Weeks in Henderson County Beginning March 10 for Bridge Work Tuesday, March 05, 2013

RALEIGH — Beginning the night of Sunday, March 10, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close one lane of Interstate 26 East at Exit 54 in Henderson County for approximately two weeks, weather permitting, to perform work on the bridge over the Green River.

During the work, all trucks must use posted detour of U.S. 25 South to S.C. Hwy 11 back to I-26.  Cars will be allowed across the Green River Bridge but the lane will be narrowed due to nature of the work.

The closures are necessary in order for crews to replace the joints of the Green River Bridge, which have deteriorated over time. The $1.2 million project contract was awarded to Buckeye Construction of Canton.
