Lane Closures Planned as Carteret County Bridge Inspections Start on Monday, March 4 Friday, March 01, 2013

RALEIGH Inspections scheduled for three Carteret County bridges will require some lane closures over the next few weeks.

They will start Monday, March 4, weather permitting, with the inspection of the Morehead City Atlantic Beach bridge. Through Sunday, March 10, one lane can be closed in one direction at a time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The following Monday, March 11, the U.S. 70 bridge over the Newport River will be inspected. The inspection could close one lane in one direction between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through Sunday, March 17.

On Monday, March 18, the inspection begins for the B. Cameron Langston bridge over the Intercoastal Waterway on N.C. 58. A one-lane, one-direction closure could be in place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Friday, March 22, and the following week from Monday, March 25, through Thursday, March 28.

Motorists are advised to reduce speed in these locations during the inspection periods.
