DETAILS: The NCDOT Statewide Model Bridge Building Competition is designed to create a greater awareness of careers and services available in the transportation industry. The competition emphasizes the development of math and science skills. It also requires the use of problem-solving strategies, critical thinking, communication skills, applying research and presentation skills.
Each school team will be judged in four categories including: written report, oral presentation, design drawing and model efficiency. Winners of the regional competitions will advance to the statewide competition, which will be held April 12 in Raleigh.
