RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $2.8 million contract to Rogers Group, Inc. of Atlanta, Ga., to resurface the following roads in Rutherford County:
U.S. 221 from 0.25 miles South of Oak Street North for 1.67 miles to the beginning of the curb and gutter section;
U.S. 221 from south of the U.S. 64/U.S. 74A interchange 2.11 miles to Thompson Road, including the interchange ramps at U.S. 64/U.S.74A;
2.5 miles of N.C. 120 from U.S. 221-A to High Shoals Road in Mooresboro; and
Nine sections of secondary roads totaling 11.5 miles.
Work can start as early as March 15 and is scheduled for completion by Oct. 15.
This is one of 24 contracts totaling $59.9 million awarded by NCDOT in January for highway and bridge projects across North Carolina. NCDOT awarded the contracts to the lowest bidders, as required by state law. The bids received on the projects awarded came in about 4.8 percent, or $3.1 million, below NCDOT estimates.
