Motorists should prepare for delays
CHARLOTTE – Progress continues on the completion of the final 5.7 – mile segment of the Charlotte Outer Loop in northeast Mecklenburg County, as the N.C. Department of Transportation and contractor Blythe Construction will be opening a new segment of Ridge Road at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, weather permitting.
Motorists should expect delays while crews work to tie in the new segments to the existing roadway. Flaggers will be present to move traffic through these areas safely. The following activities will be completed:
- A new alignment of Ridge Road will open, extending from south of Beard Road to Mallard Creek Road;
- The existing section of Ridge Road will be removed;
- A new traffic signal will be activated at the new intersection of Ridge Road and Mallard Creek Road; and
- The existing traffic signal at the intersection of Mallard Creek Road and Ridge Road will be removed.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
