Osborne Road Closure for Bridge Replacement Project Starts Monday Thursday, February 14, 2013

RALEIGH — Work is scheduled to start Monday, Feb. 18, weather permitting, on a N.C. Department of Transportation project to replace a bridge on Osborne Road, southwest of Rockingham in Richmond County. The 45-year-old bridge carries traffic over Baggett’s Creek.

The replacement project means the road will be closed between east of U.S. 1 and Sandhill Road through late April. A detour route will be in place, with drivers using Sandhill Road, U.S. 1 and Hamer Mill Road to get around the closure.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Updated travel information is also available by calling 511 or online at www.ncdot.gov/travel. In addition, NCDOT now offers travel information on Twitter.

More information on the project is available by calling NCDOT Resident Engineer Chuck Dumas at (910) 944-7554.
