|U.S. 701S/Garland Highway Bridge in Sampson County to Close for Four Weeks

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will close the U.S. 701 South/Garland Highway bridge for four weeks beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, for major structural work.
Crews will be replacing parts of the bridge’s substructure, which will require the closure of both the northbound and southbound lanes.
The bridge is located .7 miles north of Norris Road near Garland in Sampson County. It is expected to reopen at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 28.
Motorists can use the following signed detour:
- From U.S. 701 South/Garland Highway:
- Turn left onto Old U.S. 701;
- Left onto Lisbon Bridge Road;
- Right onto N.C. 411; and
- Return to U.S. 701/Garland Highway.
