NCDOT to Close Kimesville Road in Alamance County for Bridge Replacement Wednesday, February 6, 2013

RALEIGH — Weather permitting, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close Kimesville Road in Alamance County beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11 to replace the bridge over Stinking Quarter Creek. Construction of the new bridge is expected to be complete by July 26.

Kimesville Road will be closed between Euliss Road and Foster Store Road. Motorists will use the following signed detour route:
  • Kimesville Road to Euliss Road to Smith Road to Foster Store Road back to Kimesville Road.
The existing bridge was built in 1956 and is considered structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. This means the bridge is safe, but it needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.
NCDOT reminds motorists to stay alert, watch signs for construction information and obey the posted speed limit.
