Bridge replacement project will close a section of Hickory Ridge Road in Cabarrus County Monday, February 04, 2013

Project will begin in mid-February

CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close Hickory Ridge Road between Rocky River Road and Lower Rocky River Road south of Harrisburg at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, weather permitting.

Contractor TCB Builders LLC of Lexington will replace the 61-year-old bridge over Reedy Creek which is now functionally obsolete and considered structurally deficient. The bridge is safe for motorists, but is not built to current design standards.

The $817,800 contract includes replacing the existing bridge, installing guardrail, and improving the road surface on the bridge and its approaches. Motorists should be able to drive on the new bridge by mid-August, while vegetation and reforestation efforts will continue through February of next year.

There will be a posted detour for motorists along Rocky River Road and Lower Rocky River Road.
