NCDOT to Temporarily Close a Section of Purefoy Road in Chapel Hill Next Week Friday, February 1, 2013

RALEIGH — Weather permitting, the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a section of Purefoy Road in Orange County next week to install storm drain pipe as part of the South Columbia Street enhancement project.

Purefoy Road will be closed to through-traffic from South Columbia Street to Mason Farm Road, beginning Tuesday, Feb. 5 through Thursday, Feb. 7. The closure will be in place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.

Driveway access to homes on Purefoy Road will be maintained throughout the closure, and property owners will be able to access Purefoy Road from Mason Farm Road only. The intersection of Purefoy Road and South Columbia Street will be inaccessible during the closure.

Message boards will notify motorists of the closure and alternate routes. Local traffic is encouraged to use the following alternate routes:

  • From N.C. 86/South Columbia Street, take Mason Farm Road to Purefoy Road.
  • From U.S. 15-501, take Mason Farm Road to Purefoy Road.
