Closure is part of project to complete I-485 Outer Loop
CHARLOTTE -- The N.C. Department of Transportation will close Beard Road between Ridge Road and Christenbury Road in Charlotte at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, weather permitting. The closure is part of the Charlotte Outer Loop project, completing the final 5.7-mile segment of I-485 in Mecklenburg County.
The closure is scheduled for 45 days while contractor Lane Construction works to realign the road at the intersection of Ridge Road. Motorists will follow a posted detour along Christenbury Road, Odell School Road and Mallard Creek Road.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
