Bridge Replacement on Old Spring Hope Road in Nash County Starts Monday - Old Spring Hope Road between Old White Oak Road and Sheep Pasture Road closed through early May Friday, January 04, 2013

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will close the bridge on Old Spring Hope Road over Sapony Creek near Momeyer in Nash County beginning Monday, Jan. 7 until early May, weather permitting.

The closure is necessary for crews with Fred Smith Co. of Raleigh to replace the bridge that was constructed in 1951 with a new bridge that meets current design standards. The new bridge will be approximately 50 feet longer and four feet wider than the current bridge.

Old Spring Hope Road will be closed to through traffic between Old White Oak Road and Sheep Pasture Road during the bridge replacement. A 9.4 mile-long signed detour will be in place.

Traffic will use Sheep Pasture Road, Macedonia Road, Old Bailey Highway and Old White Oak Road to travel around the closure.
