NCDOT will close a section of Poplar Hill Church Road in Anson County Thursday, December 20, 2012

Crews will replace the bridge over Ledbetter Branch

CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of Poplar Hill Church Road over Ledbetter Branch in Polkton Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, weather permitting.

The $452,000 project is necessary for contractor R.E. Burns and Sons to replace the existing bridge and install guardrail. To complete this work in a safe manner, motorists will follow a signed detour around the project:

  • Poplar Hill Church Road to U.S. 74 East to Camden Church Road to Mills Road back to Poplar Hill Church Road.

The contract calls for the bridge replacement to be completed by June 5, 2013. Additional vegetation and reforestation work can continue through Dec. 3, 2013, which may require intermittent lane closures.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
