Work Starts Next Week on New Bridge on Meadowbranch Road in Randolph County Tuesday, December 18, 2012

RALEIGH — An N.C. Department of Transportation bridge replacement project gets under way on Wednesday, Dec. 26 to put a new bridge on Meadowbranch Road over Meadow Creek in Randolph County. A $564,589 contract was awarded Dellinger Inc. of Monroe, N.C. to replace the 55-year-old bridge, located east of Seagrove.

The bridge being replaced is considered structurally deficient and functionally obsolete. That means it is still safe, but is in deteriorating condition and needs to be replaced.

The contract calls for the work to be finished within 120 days of the start, which would be by April 26.

The project means drivers will be detoured around the area, using Brower Mill Road, Center Road and Union Grove Church Road to go between the separated sections of  Meadowbranch Road.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch for the road closure signs, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
