Four-wheel Drive Access on N.C. 12 Reopens Thursday, December 13, 2012

RALEIGH – Four-wheel drive access on Pea Island along N.C. 12 reopened about about 11:30 this morning, after is  overwash on the roadway caused by high tide closed it earlier in the day. Water receded enough to allow four-wheeled drive traffic back on the road. Caution should be used when crossing the access route.

Motorists are urged to “know before you go” about traffic conditions along the Outer Banks. For real-time travel information at any time, call 511, visit www.ncdot.gov/travel or follow NCDOT on Twitter at www.ncdot.gov/travel/twitter/.

Another option is NCDOT Mobile, a phone-friendly version of the NCDOT website. To access it, type “m.ncdot.gov” into the browser of your smartphone and bookmark it for future reference. NCDOT Mobile is compatible with the iPhone, Android and some newer Blackberry phones.
