RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation will open
the outside lane of the new U.S. 52 South bridge over Liberty Street in
Winston-Salem on Saturday, Nov. 17, during the afternoon hours. With the inside
lane already open to traffic, this will mark the first time motorists can drive
across the new bridge on both travel lanes.
NCDOT originally projected it would open the outside lane next
week, but due to diligent work and favorable weather, the department is able to
open the outside lane several days ahead of schedule. The early opening will
