RALEIGH — The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles announced today that it will open a new License and Theft Bureau office tomorrow at 1636 Shacktown Road in Yadkinville. The office is located at the N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance yard, where signage directs the public to the Bureau’s entrance.
The office will be open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Its phone number is (336) 679-2201. When an inspector is performing field operations and not available, Bureau officials may be reached through the District V office in Winston-Salem at (336) 761-2286.
DMV’s License and Theft Bureau inspectors investigate cases of vehicle theft, odometer fraud, identity fraud and theft, and vehicle inspection fraud. They also license and regulate new and used car dealers, as well as vehicle inspection stations to ensure compliance with state law and the federal Clean Air Act.
Inspectors also investigate citizen complaints against car dealerships, vehicle inspection stations and any business open to the public for the repair, storage, parking and towing of motor vehicles.
