RALEIGH — The N.C.
Department of Transportation will close a section of N.C. 268 near Patterson for
two weeks starting Monday, Oct. 1, weather permitting, to replace a stormwater
drainage pipe. The pipe is located near Pigtail/Walsh Road and is 2
miles east of U.S. 321. Portable message boards are in place at U.S. 321/N.C.
268 and at Grandin Road/N.C. 268 to inform the public about the project.
A detour route around the project has been set up. Motorists traveling west
on N.C. 268 should take Grandin Road for about 6.5 miles and turn right
onto N.C. 18 South for about 9 miles. Turn right onto U.S. 321 North for about
6 miles to return to N.C. 268. Eastbound traffic will reverse directions.
NCDOT will have barricades on
N.C. 268 off U.S. 321, at the Yadkin River Road intersection and at Grandin
Road. NCDOT reminds motorists to stay
alert and obey the posted speed limit.
