WHAT: “Booze It & Lose It” Labor Day Campaign Kickoff Event
WHEN: Friday, Aug. 17, at 1 p.m.
WHERE: PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh
COMMENTS: Local law enforcement agencies from across Wake County will join the Governor’s Highway Safety Program to kick off its “Booze It & Lose It” Labor Day campaign.
GHSP representatives, Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison, Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby Jr. and Garner Police Chief Brandon Zuidema will speak at the event.
The Labor Day campaign begins Friday, Aug. 17 and continues through Monday, Sept. 3. Additional checkpoints and stepped-up patrols will be conducted across the state during the campaign.
Officers charged more than 2,900 North Carolina motorists with driving while impaired during the 2011 “Booze It & Lose It” Labor Day campaign. More than 8,000 stepped-up patrols and checkpoints were conducted.
