RALEIGH —Construction gets underway today on a $2.5 million N.C. Department
of Transportation project to replace the 60-year-old bridge on Green
Level Church Road over White Oak Creek in Cary. The work means Green Level
Church Road will be closed between Green Level West and Roberts roads until
next April.
A signed detour will be in place. Motorists traveling south on Green Level
Church Road will turn right onto Green Level West Road, left on Wimberly Road,
and left on Jenks Road to get back to Green Level Church Road. Northbound
drivers on Green Level Church Road will detour the opposite route.
The bridge being replaced is considered functionally obsolete, as it
was built to size standards that no longer can properly handle traffic demands
for the fast growing area in Wake County.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction and
detour information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
